A shot from their most popular film, Lego Agents The Movie Final Part |
Okay then. Because there r 2 of us that run AgentIndy417 (Calum and Jack) some of the questions will have 2 answers, 1 for each of us but the rest will have our overall opinion. Hope that's okay. Anyway here it goes :)
1) What inspired you to start brickfilming?
In 2008, we started brickfilming after watching Forrestfire101 and his videos. We actually
made an advert for him in 2009 which he favourited for two or three months :)
2) Who is your favorite brickfilmer and what is your favorite brickfilm?
Calum: My favourite brickfilm was easily Lego Agents, Project Brick Storm by LGOrlando. To keep it short, it was just simply epic. Shame he closed his account :(
Jack: Tough one, there are many fantastic brickfilms out there. I'm going to say Batman Rebuilt by ChristoferMatthias because while watching it, it truly felt like you were watching an episode of Batman. It was very creative & very entertaining to see 3 of my old time favourite villains in a team :) As for our favourite brickfilmer, that's got to be thefourmonkeys. They're family friendly, their stories are brilliant and they are really nice
people. We've been in contact with them since before they became popular :)
3) What is your favorite LEGO set?
We don't really have a favourite LEGO set. We prefer customising sets with the pieces we have, which we both find a lot more fun :)
4) Did you ever think you would become this popular?
No we didn't really. It's quite something. We thought it would take much longer than it did to get to the stage that we're at today :)
5) Does making LEGO Stop-motion influence in your social life?
It did a bit to begin with but not so much nowadays. However some of our friends have seen the videos and even tried to create a live action video with us (didn't really go too well lol) :)
6) Have you ever had any issues with another YouTuber?
Aye, we have but more in the early days of YouTube. Some of the people we had issues with later became our friends but others didn't. We don't really have issues with other brickfilmers nowadays. If we don't like their videos we just don't watch them which is the best course of action :)
7) If you could go back to when you began brickfilming would you have changed anything you did on your videos or on YouTube?
Aye, it's a bit embarrassing to watch some of our earlier videos. But we were about 12 when we started so I guess that makes sense. Apart from that, we're quite happy with the way we've progressed through YouTube :)
8) Do you have any tips for aspiring animators?
Calum: Yeah, I say just keep doing what you love. You might need to improve the sounds, get a better camera or edit better but eventually every brickfilmer gets to be good at what they do. The more practice you get, the more enjoyable brickfilming becomes and the better your films get :)
Jack: In my opinion, the 3 most important factors in film whether it's brickfilming or even live action is plot, character development and setting. As long as you have all of these, a good camera and editing software (Even Windows Movie Maker can be used effectively) then all you need is practice and a bit of patience while filming :)
9) What are your plans for the future?
Calum: These will be pretty long, lol. I plan to become an author in the future, simply because I enjoy stories and I love writing them. It makes sense as I wrote the script for the Agent's movie. As for brickfilming, I still very much love it and we might make some LEGO trailers of the novels I have written. I reckon later on in future I'll probably still be brickfilming for a hobby. We'll just have to see, won't we? :)
Jack: I've wanted to be a Palaeontologist since 2003 and still aim for that goal. As for brickfilming, the trailers seem like fun :) I would like to do another big movie at some point. Due to positivie reaction to the Agents movie, a sequel is possible. I'd like to adapt a novel into a brickfilm perhaps like Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror by Steve Alten or Raven's Gate by Anthony Horowitz. If only we had the effects to do so. I hope to release some more brickfilms later in 2012 after a hiatus in 2011 after the Agents movie.
